As we advance reconciliation with the Indigenous peoples of Canada, we are committed to indigenizing our cities and country. Public space and the institutions that support and advance democracy, civil liberties, and human rights have a duty to address the structural deficiencies that perpetuate colonial oppression and inequality. We can only indigenize if we decolonize our institutions.
